Rental home booking tips and tricks:
When to book a Currituck rental & When to go:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Currituck area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning and choosing the best Currituck rental:
- First and foremost, have your group decide on dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. See Horse Corral At Corolla Bay 4 Bedroom Oceanside Home! Beat The Traffic With FlexStay! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property management company before booking your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a particular Currituck attraction you love, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
Know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
