Tips for getting the perfect vacation home experience:
When to reserve a Currituck rental home & When to go:
- June, July, and August are high season in Corolla. To get the best value, consider changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Currituck area visitor guide magazines which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose the perfect rental:
- Select a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Now booking for 2025! Hope to see you then! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If not, call the property manager before you reserve the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is best for your family.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
Tips to have a great stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to stimulate future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
