Our tours embark from Corolla NC, the last Outer Banks outpost before the road ends into nothing but stretches of wide beach. We provide safe family fun to see the Corolla Wild Horses, descendants of the Spanish Mustangs brought to the New World by explorers as long ago as the early 1500s. Because we go to their native habitat, you have the chance to experience much more than just a tour to see these majestic beings; you also get stories about the history of this area, a chance to learn about the other wild animals and vegetation of this area…and sometimes even a pirate tale or two!

View the horses in our open air Safari-style vehicle. Our tours are safe for all ages; yes, even kids in car seats can go on this trip. Back Beach Wild Horse Tours has large capacity vehicles with seating for up to 15 people. All our trucks transition easily from beach driving to the network of sandy roads and up over dunes. Lots of our guests have said that just the experience of riding with the wind in their hair through the beauty of this wild, open area was a great part of their wild horse tour.

Vacationers adore the Outer Banks for its unspoiled stretches of undeveloped shoreline, and some may not initially realize that this sporadic lack of development is completely intentional, and is the result of decades of careful environmental planning. While tourism flourished on the beaches, for generations, locals and visitors alike made inquiries and partnerships with government branches to ensure that certain areas of the Outer Banks would always remain pristine, unspoiled, and open to everyone.
Beach canopies and umbrellas create shade, lower ambient temperatures and block UV rays on hot, sunny Summer days. Sitting under the canopy of a quality beach umbrella can make the difference between comfort and sweltering. When choosing an umbrella, we look for durability, wind ratings, weight and size.
If you seek serenity, nature, and privacy, you will love this house and its fabulous nature views. Sitting on just over two acres, this home provides more than enough room for kids to play sports and explore beach living in a more wooded setting. Backing up to a large pond with a private dock, this is one of the most tranquil settings in Corolla. You can catch small fish, watch the turtles, and even catch a view of ospreys & eagles nesting right from the privacy of your deck. The home is nestled in the heart of Corolla Village and just a short stroll to unique shopping, the Whalehead Club, and the beach! Enter your vacation home through a large, covered porch offering seating and hammock swings for the family to enjoy. The ground level hosts the living area of the house with a tastefully decorated great room with vaulted ceilings, a 55" smart TV with a soundbar, stereo, and surround sound. The west side of the home is lined with windows and glass doors to maximize the nature views. The recently (2022) remodeled kitchen sports a large bar with countertop space, a gas cooktop, a double wall oven/microwave, a separate beverage cooler, and a nice size pantry for food storage. There is a beautiful wooden dining table seating everyone and a separate, expandable breakfast table that seats even more. Just off the kitchen is a laundry room with a washer and dryer to use whenever you like. Around the corner, you'll find a den with a queen sleeper sofa for quiet escapes and a full bath. There is also a huge queen primary bedroom with a separate sitting area, TV, and walk-in closet. The bathroom there features a bath with double shower heads, a steam shower, and a bidet. Rounding out this level is a west-side queen bedroom with a sitting area, four skylights, and numerous windows for views of the pond right out back. The large back deck, extending the entire length of the house, has room for dining, rocking, sunning, fishing and just enjoying the wildlife and sunset. Up a flight of stairs, you will find two more bedrooms. There is another queen primary bedroom with a large bathroom and a sizable kids' bedroom offering a queen and twin beds. Both bedrooms additionally feature TVs equipped with Amazon Firesticks. The latter room also sports a built-in play table for kids' games, puzzles, or arts and crafts. Just off this room is a full bathroom that also opens into the hallway. Tucked into the southwest side of the home are a cozy loft area with seating, and fabulous sound views.
