Tricks and tips to get the optimal Currituck rental experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Currituck area. To find the most suitable rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Currituck attractions. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitors guides which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Whalehead Beach, oceanside with private pool and hot tub, rec room with pool tab has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck vacation rental search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the host right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a great stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
