How to book the best rental home experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To get the best value, try changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area travel guides which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and picking a perfectrental:
- Start by having your family commit to vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Pet Friendly! Magnificent Newer Home! 6 BR Sleeps 18, Ocean Views, Pool, Hot-tub has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property management company before you book the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
More tips for your stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of issues.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
