Tips to get the perfect rental home experience:

Sticking to a budget:

  • The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Summer is high season in the Currituck area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies supply Currituck area visitors guide magazines that include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose a group leader, select your dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Stunning Coastal Dream W\/ Multiple Decks, Easy Beach Access, & Private Hot Tub has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property manager before booking the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is best for your group.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the host immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to stimulate future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
