Finding the best Currituck vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in Corolla. To get the best value, try changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitor guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Finding the perfect vacation home:
- Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Dog-friendly, ocean-view home with pool, private hot tub, & fast WiFi has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or may be applied to your invoice.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of problems.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- During arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
