Vacation rental booking tips:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in the Currituck area. Book your Currituck rental home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies supply Currituck area visitors guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and pick the best Currituck rental:
- First, have your group select dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Amen Corner: Elevator, Private Pool, Hot Tub, 5 Masters has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
More considerations for your visit:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the host right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
