How to book the best rental experience:
Getting the most from your budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Currituck area. To find the largest rental within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- In the Currituck area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Currituck area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning and picking the perfect Currituck rental:
- Begin by selecting a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. CB27*5bedrm*Elevator*Priv Pool*PoolTable*WaterView has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges applied to your invoice.
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Upon arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
