Our top Rental home booking tips:
When to visit & When to reserve a Currituck rental home:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Currituck area. Book your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- To start, have your family select a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Pet-friendly oceanside Corolla home w\/ pool and hot tub! has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, call the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what is right for your family.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the property manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to drive future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
