Tricks and tips to get the best rental experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- In the Currituck area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- To book the best vacation home within budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Currituck restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to choose the perfect vacation rental:
- Begin by selecting trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Dog Friendly, Private Pool, Hot Tub
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
- If there's a particular Currituck beach you crave, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
More considerations for your visit:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- During arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
