How to book the best Currituck vacation property experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- To get the best value, consider shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Make a plan and choose your prefectrental:
- Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. 2025 UPDATES! 2 min walk to beach. Private Heated Pool. Hot Tub. Pet Friendly. has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- If there's an individual Currituck attraction you long to visit, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
Tips for a wonderful stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. message the host right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific time? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
