How to find the best vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Booking in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
- The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking your prefectrental home:
- Choose a group leader, select your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. NEW LISTING: AnnaSea: Classic beach house, steps from ocean, private pool! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. If they are not listed, email the property owner before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is right for your family.
- If there's an individual Currituck destination you are enamored with, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- During check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
