Our top Rental home booking tips:
Getting the best value:
- In the Currituck area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Currituck area. Book your Currituck vacation home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Currituck area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and choose the bestrental:
- Select vacation dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Egret Alley: Dog-Friendly, Priv. Pool, Perfect Sunsets has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is suitable for your vacation.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
