Strategies to get the best vacation rental experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- To find the best value, try shifting your family's Currituck trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitors guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, selecting, and booking the rightrental:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Bright and beautiful beach house in Corolla Bay, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your trip.
- Looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect your property!
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
