Our top Currituck vacation rental home tips:
Finding the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Currituck area. To book the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Currituck restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Selecting and booking your prefect Currituck rental:
- Choose vacation week and maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. The Grand Ole Osprey - Corolla Oceanside - The Original Classic Beach House! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available online. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you book your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your family.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
