Corolla Light, a neighborhood in Corolla, is home to this vacation home. Outer Banks Center for Wildlife Education and Wild Horse Museum are cultural highlights, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Corolla Adventure Golf and Bumper Cars and The Sanderling Spa.   • June, July, and August are high season in Corolla. To book the best rental home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Currituck attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • In the Currituck area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Currituck visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.

  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, email the host before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or applied to your agreement.

During your stay:

  • We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
