Tips and Tricks to get the best Currituck rental experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Currituck rental home:
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- To start, have your group commit to a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Beautiful OBX Home w. Pristine Views by RedAwning has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what is right for your family.
- If there's a particular Currituck beach you crave, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
Advice for your stay:
- Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
