How to get the best vacation rental experience:

Get the best value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Currituck area. To find the most suitable rental for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area travel guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Selecting the best rental home in Corolla:

  • First and foremost, have your group commit to the best dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Anchor Bar: Soundside with private pool, hot tub, game room & community poo has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • If there's a specific Currituck destination you crave, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Upon arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
