Finding the best rental home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the best value, consider changing your family's Currituck vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some owners offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, property management companies supply Currituck area travel guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose and book the perfectvacation home:
- Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Large, dog-friendly home close to the beach with pool, hot tub, & washer\/dryer has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is right for your vacation group.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific Currituck destination you are crazy about, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
- At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
