Strategies to get the perfect Currituck vacation property experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- To book the best vacation home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Currituck restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, property management companies supply Currituck area visitor guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to select the best rental:
- Choose a group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Semi Oceanfront 5 bedroom dog friendly cottage has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If not, call the property manager before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your stay, record any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the rental manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
