Tips and Tricks to get the optimal rental experience:
When to reserve a Currituck rental & When to go:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in Corolla. Book your Currituck vacation home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, management companies supply Currituck area visitors guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose the perfect rental:
- Start by having your family decide on a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Oceanside, Hot Tub, Community Amenities, 845 ft to Beach Access, PI6, Fan-ta-sea has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many problems.
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
