Our top Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Currituck area. Booking your vacation home in Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to select the perfect rental:
- Start by selecting vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Debo's Tiki Hut has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the host before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
