Tips for getting the perfect rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Reserve your Currituck vacation in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Currituck area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Planning and picking your prefect Currituck rental:
- Start by choosing your a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Dog-friendly home with great views, elevator, private hot tub, & pool has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what is right for your group.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. message the rental manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
