Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- Booking your Currituck vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, management companies supply Currituck area visitor guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your rental search:
- Begin by choosing trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Joyful Sound: Soundside 5-bedroom, Private Pool & Spa, Elevator and Dog-friendly has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what is right for your vacation.
- If there's a specific Currituck attraction you long to visit, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- During arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
