Tricks and tips to get the best Currituck rental experience:
Get the best rental value:
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Currituck area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Narrow your Search:
- Choose vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Sounds Like Fun: Soundfront, Private Pool, Hot Tub has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. If not, contact the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Tips to have a fantastic stay:
- Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- During check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
