Strategies to get the very best vacation property experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- Summer is high season in Corolla. Book your Currituck vacation in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the Currituck area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitor guides which include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and choosing a perfectrental home:
- Select vacation dates and budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Sounds Like Fun: Soundfront, Private Pool, Hot Tub has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- At Check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
