Tricks and tips to get the best Currituck rental experience:
When to visit Corolla & When to book:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Corolla. To book the best rental for your budget, we recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Currituck visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by selecting your the best vacation week and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Golf Cart Friendly, Pool, Game Room & Resort Perks has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- If there's a certain Currituck beach you are crazy about, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Additional considerations:
- Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute arises.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to inspire more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
