Our top Rental booking tips:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in Corolla. To find the best rental home within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Currituck restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitor guides that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Semi-Oceanfront, Private Pool, Close to Beach, Hot Tub, PI183, Blessed 4 Shore has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. If not, call the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
- If there's a specific Currituck attraction you long to visit, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Know before you go:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of issues.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
- Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to compel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
