Getting the best Corolla vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your rental in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Currituck area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to pick the perfect rental home in the Currituck area:
- Choose a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. PI183, Blessed 4 Shore- Semi-Oceanfront, Private Pool, Close to Beach, Hot Tub has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your group.
- Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- To make certain no damages are attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the rental manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
