Strategies to get the very best rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Reserve your Currituck rental property in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, property management companies supply Currituck area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting and booking a perfect Currituck rental:
- To start, have your family select dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Canalfront 6BR home w\/ pool & hot tub on the beautiful 4x4 beaches of Carova! has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property owner before booking the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges applied to your agreement.
- If there's a particular Currituck beach you crave, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few problems.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
