Strategies to get the perfect vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Currituck area. To get the best value, try changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Currituck area visitors guides which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting and booking the perfect Currituck vacation home:
- Select dates and spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Canalfront 6BR home w\/ pool & hot tub on the beautiful 4x4 beaches of Carova! has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your family.
- If there's a specific Currituck destination you crave, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make certain damages are not attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Call the rental manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
