Rental home booking tips:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies supply Currituck area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and pick a perfect Currituck rental home:
- Choose a group leader, select your dates, and select a spending budget.
- 2,780 ft to the beach
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- If there's a particular Currituck attraction you crave, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- During arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to inspire future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
