Tricks and tips to get the best Currituck vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To book the most suitable vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Currituck restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.
How to pick the perfect rental in Corolla:
- Begin by selecting a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Pet-friendly oceanfront Corolla home w\/ pool, hot tub, & elevator! has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before booking the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many problems.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
