Tips to get the optimal vacation property experience:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Currituck area. To book the best rental home for your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Currituck attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain deals for local shops and restaurants.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Parrothead Manor: 6 bedroom home with private pool, hot tub, eleva has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is best for your vacation.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. text the host immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
