Tips to get the best vacation property experience:

Getting the best value:

  • In the Currituck area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Corolla. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
  • Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Currituck area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Filter your rental search:

  • Choose a group leader, select your trip dates, and select a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Octopus's Garden: Large Private Pool & Hot Tub, Walk to Beach has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before booking your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
  • If there's a specific Currituck destination you simply love, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

More considerations:

  • Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
  • During arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
