Currituck rental home booking tips and tricks:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • To find the best value, try shifting your family's Currituck vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, management companies supply Currituck area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to pick the perfect vacation home:

  • Choose vacation week and spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Seadog: Private Pool, Hot Tub, Rec Room has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before booking your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental

Tips to have a great stay:

  • Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
