Strategies to get the optimal Currituck rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many management companies supply Currituck area travel guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to select the perfect vacation home in the Currituck area:
- Begin by selecting trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Seadog: Private heated pool, hot tub, rec room with pool table, great community has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, email the property owner before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation group.
- If there's a particular Currituck beach you love, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges applied to your contract.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Upon arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
