Getting the best Carova vacation home experience:
When to visit Carova & When to reserve a Carova rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the most suitable rental within budget, we suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Currituck attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Currituck area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting the best vacation home:
- Select vacation dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Panoramic ocean views and secluded beaches at Starboard Watch in Carova! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your family.
- Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
Advice for a terrific stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
