Rental property booking tips and tricks:
When to visit & When to book:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Currituck area. Booking your vacation home in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Often, property management companies supply Currituck area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting and booking a perfectrental:
- Select vacation week and maximum budget.
- Foosball Table has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your trip.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
Know before you go:
- Add the host's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Contact the host right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of problems.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
