Currituck vacation rental tips:
Find your perfect rental:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- To get the best value, try shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to choose the best rental in Corolla:
- Start by having your group select a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Hot Tub
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the host before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many issues.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
- Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to compel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
