Tips to get the best vacation rental experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Currituck area. To find the largest rental within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Currituck restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to pick the best vacation home:

  • Start by choosing trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Sea-Esta: Private pool, hot tub, foosball, community amenities. has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, call the property manager before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • If your family is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

During your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the rental manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to inspire future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
