How to get the best Currituck vacation rental experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in the Currituck area. To book the best vacation home for your budget, we recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Currituck visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- Select vacation dates and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Sea-Esta: Private pool, hot tub, foosball, community amenities. has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. Otherwise, call the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your family.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- To make certain no damages are attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to inspire more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
