Tricks and tips to get the best vacation rental experience:
When to visit Corolla & When to book:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitors guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and choosing your prefectvacation home:
- To start, have your group choose date ranges and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Ocean-side home in Corolla with private pool, hot tub, rec room, & AC has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your group.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
Know before you go:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Call the property manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many problems.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to compel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
