Finding the best rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer months are high season in the Currituck area. Booking your Currituck vacation home in Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- In the Currituck area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many management companies supply Currituck area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and picking your prefect Currituck rental home:
- Choose a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. SEA-GO in Corolla, NC. OCEANSIDE! 4 min. walk to beach, PET FRIENDLY! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before booking your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what is best for your trip.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- During check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to compel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
