Finding the best vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in Corolla. To find the most suitable vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Currituck area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.
How to choose the perfect vacation home in the Currituck area:
- Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 1358 Ar Lan Y Mor *4 Min Walk to Beach has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Have a great stay:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
