Tips and Tricks to get the very best Currituck vacation property experience:

When to visit Corolla & When to book:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Currituck area. To book the largest rental home within budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • In the Currituck area, The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitors guides that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Choosing and booking your prefectrental home:

  • To start, have your family select dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Sounds Good to Me: Soundfront Home, New to Rental Program has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you book the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's a specific Currituck attraction you crave, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Advice for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • At Check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to propel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
