Our top Rental home booking tips:
Finding the best value:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the most suitable rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitors guides that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and picking a perfect Currituck rental:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. A few step to the beach\/Private Pool\/Spa\/Linens\/Beds made\/office\/Wifi\/much more has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. If not, call the property owner before you book the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what is best for your vacation family.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Have a great stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of problems.
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your review find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
