Tricks and tips to get the perfect Corolla rental home experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the largest rental within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Currituck restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- In the Currituck area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by having your family decide on dates and a maximum budget.

- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property management company before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
- If there's a certain Currituck attraction you long to visit, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.

More considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few problems.
- Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to propel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
