Vacation rental tips:
When to book & When to go:
- In the Currituck area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- To book the largest rental within your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Currituck restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Some owners offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose the best rental home:
- Select a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Easy Breezy OBX - New Beautiful Modern Home on the 4x4 w\/ Ocean Views & Hot Tub. has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what is suitable for your group.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific Currituck attraction you long to visit, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Tips to have a great stay:
- Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
