Strategies to get the very best Currituck rental home experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking your vacation rental in Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- In the Currituck area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies supply Currituck area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking the best Currituck rental:
- Select vacation week and maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Oceanside, Private Pool, Hot Tub, Screened Porch, 722, The Sandlot- has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what configuration is right for your vacation group.
- If there's a particular Currituck beach you are enamored with, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or could be applied to your invoice.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon check in. text the host immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many issues.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
