Booking the best vacation home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- June, July, and August are high season in Corolla. Reserve your Currituck rental home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Planning and picking the bestrental:
- Select vacation dates and budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Oceanside, Wild Horses! Beach getaway, remote location, 4x1701, Sandy Paws Retreat has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. If not, email the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many problems.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- During check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
