Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.

Advice for a smooth stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the rental manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a great time? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
