Vacation rental home tips:
Get the best rental home value:
- To get the largest rental within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- In the Currituck area, The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose and book the perfect Currituck rental:
- Select your dates and max budget.
- Community Pool
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the property manager before you book the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- If there's a specific Currituck destination you are enamored with, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Upon arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
