Tricks and tips to get the perfect Currituck rental home experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the best value, consider changing your family's Currituck vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, management companies supply Currituck area travel guides that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Choose your vacation week and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Don’t Worry, Beach Happy at Beacon Quarters has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
Additional considerations:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- At Check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to drive future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
