Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Currituck vacation rental experience:
Get the best rental home value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic.
- In the Currituck area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies supply Currituck area travel guides which include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Choose your vacation week and budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Townhome by the beach with peekaboo ocean view, pool, pickleball, & balconies has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property management company before reserving your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a particular Currituck destination you are crazy about, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or might be applied to your agreement.
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
