Booking the best Corolla rental home experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a Corolla rental home:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the largest rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Currituck attractions.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Finding the perfect rental home in Corolla:
- Select your dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Ocean-view home with wrap-around deck, beach access, outdoor shower & cornhole has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. Otherwise, reach out to the host before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your family.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
More considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- To make certain damages are not attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon check in. text the rental manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
